Happy Hanukkah
Every year we celebrate this holiday because of my husbands family who were holocaust survivors. We will be going to see them tonight.
I am not Jewish but my husband is in his heritage. We are not practicing Jews but have family that does.
I love this holiday for its symbolic meaning: G-d’s light in the Darkness.

I know many are angry at the politics that surround Israel but please realize many Jews are for peace. They are not bad people. My husband has dealt with so much Antisemitism even in America it is sad it still exists. Something we found we had in common as A first Nations Native Woman and man with Jewish descent, was the clear discrimination for both our heritages. Blame for this countries ills and problems in history as well as in the present. Fighting for our rights to exist often are often looked at as a feeble attempt to promote ones self above all others. It is not.
The darkness of the whole world cannot swallow the glowing of a candle. ~Robert Altinger
As I light the candles tonight with our family, I am praying for enlightenment for all souls this year to see that only G-d’s Love, Joy, and Peace is the answer. a prayer for acceptance of our religious and philosophical differences because that is what makes our country great. To show that we all can live together in peace in one place is a message for the whole world to see.
Happy candles dance with light
As children watch them with delight.
Now they flicker, now they glow,
Until the flames burn down too low.
Kindness is a candle bright
Kindled by an inner light,
A flame that brings an inner glow –
Happiness, as well you know!By Johann Gottfried Walther.
May the light of G-d shine in your heart tonight and Happy Hanukkah to my Xanga family.

I’m glad you have a part of your heritage that you will embrace. Not everyone does. HH.
@ascultafili - Thank you.
Happy Hanukkah to you and your family.
@Shining_Garnet - Have a great day yourself. Thank you.
It is sad that people tend to take the problems in a country on to people and have a fight. I am sure your husband being a jew may not agree with fighting and war. And I am sure he too would have been descriminated. I hope people would rise above that.
Sometimes I wonder how many Jews for Christ are on xanga. Then again if they did that openly they would be called not true Jews. I was reading/watching some anti Jewish stuff and it is pretty outrageous. Probably Chinese do not mind having Jewish customers at Chinese restaurants during Christmas.
There are probably just as many Jews as Muslims who eat pork, and if your sons want to be Jewish it is sort of a uphill battle since their mother is not Jewish. However they purposely make it hard just to separate those who want to be Jewish on a “lark”. Were your sons circumcised? Definitely if they were they are sort of halfway to being Jewish.
@PPhilip - well my Husband is not Christian. And my kids like Bacon too much to convert. lol I started to read up on conversion to Judaism and well it was an eye opener why I think being a Christian is a lazy religion. I am lazy and suits me better. lol just kidding.
@angys_coco - I think its a shame people cannot except other peoples beliefs and treat them as the enemy. No matter who they are one thing good about America is a freedom to believe the way you want.
Happy Hanukkah to you and yours also.
We all need a light to lead us.
May the light brighten our life and heart!
@Grannys_Place - Thank you!
@morningwind - great thoughts, Thank you!
