    Help is appreciated.

  • Prayer and fasting today

Today is the first day of Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence's hunger strike in Ottawa. It will continue until Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Queen agree to a treaty meeting with First Nations in Canada or she meets her “ancestors.”

Chief Spence is willing to die for this cause.

Here is a link to listen to the news. CBC Points North, Reaction begins to First Nation chief's hunger strike

Here is an article about the Protests.

    First Nation Protest Across Canada

November 10, 2012, Canadian Natives across Canada held rally's in protest of the Canadian Government and Stephen Harper's legislative amendments to acquire reservation lands without consent of elected leadership under Bill C-45. Bill C-45 is an omnibus bill which in Canadian Politics allows for proposed multiple legislative amendments under one bill which must undergo 3 readings in Canadian Parliament in order to become law. In 1994 Prime Minister Harper actually criticized the methods this type of "omnibus bill" decries the democratic process of Canada. First Nations in Canada protested the segment that allowed the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC), which deals with Aboriginal issues in Canada, to call meetings without the consent of Chief and Council to surrender reserve lands to the Crown. This outraged Natives in Canada which sparked rally's across Canada. The Chiefs of the Assembly of First Nation (AFN), the National Political Organization for Canadian Natives, stormed the Canadian Parliament building on December 4, 2012 in anger to protest such legislative amendments without consulting with Natives regarding the expropriation of lands reserved for Natives. The Chiefs of the AFN provided that it violated democratic principles and violated the Treaties in Canada and the did not uphold the United Nations Declarations on Indigenous Peoples, which the U.S. and Canada approved in principle. First Nations formed the rally's though the social networking site "Facebook", which was the sole medium of communicating and forming rally's across Canada. The legislative events culminated in a Chief from Ontario, Canada to protest by hunger strike. Stating, "I’m wiling to die for my people because the pain is too much and it’s time for the government to realize what (it’s) doing to us. Somebody asked me if I was afraid to die. No, I’m not afraid to die. If that’s the journey for me I will go and I’m looking forward to it." ― Chief Theresa Spence Attawapiskat First Nation, Ontario, Canada. Canadian First Nations contend "That the Canadian Government is composing the fabric of Canada its self is a lie, because it it cannot honor the higher principles and values of being a nation and a world leader that advocates for human rights, liberties, democracies, and freedom. The very idea or notion that a peaceful nation like Canada would impose legislative arrangements that impose a governments will that take away the potential of survivability of a peoples, especially with those it has created Treaties of peace and friendship in exchange for the land is unfathomable! Especially when that government was to establish and protect these principles and ideals in a democratic sense (by the people, for the people). In reality if we as First Nations lose this fight then it is setting the stage for world! Unity should not start with just First Nations it should take the unity of the world peoples living on this land to fight for their rights as Canadians as well! Once the government proposes amendments like these it is breaking the threshold of infringing on anybodys rights to land, liberty and self government (every individual has the right to be self governing). Once these types of amendments happen then everyone in Canada and the free world becomes subject to the "government" stepping in and taking everything away from a peoples ... for it is creating precedence for other governments to follow in taking lands and liberties away within its own political state, in other words it is the first step to a police state government!"  courtesy of cbc.canada

    ............................

I will be fasting all day for this protest. I will also be praying for my leaders to be given strength and courage to say what needs to be said. Praying that the leaders of Canada will please listen and change their minds.

If we lose these rights to our lands the Canadian Government, I believe, it plans to destroy more forest land with fracking and pipelines or so I have been told by some of my elders in those native communities. Our elders have been fighting to protect not only our solidarity rights but the very land itself and all of its inhabitants.

These issues are a part of why we, as First Nations people, fight for anything but to protect God's very Creation from the evil of money and greed. This fight for free clean air and land is not limited to indigenous only. Anyone can see that these sacred trust bestowed upon us are all of humanities responsibility. The Ultimate voice in Pro-life is Pro-earth!

If we have no earth left, we will have nothing God our creator has given us to protect anymore.

Pray for this cause. Thank you.

  • 12-12-12 and 12

    My Son is twelve today!

Twelve wonderful years being a mom to a great kid.

  • Upset

I have been reading about how Prime Minister of Canada is trying to stop all treaty rights for First Nations People in Canada. A link to help explain...

    Erasing Canada's Indigenous communities

I know Why! They want to Pipe line and oil rack Native Lands. My theory since relatives of mine have been fighting this on Reserves. (Indian Reservations in Canada are called Reserves)

I am upset about this so much. I cry to think once again its about stealing rights and Lands from Native Peoples.

When will this EVIL GREED STOP?

I just don't even know how to start to help fight this...

    sad

I get such a better understanding with what is going on with this speech.

  • Happy Hanukkah

Every year we celebrate this holiday because of my husbands family who were holocaust survivors. We will be going to see them tonight.

I am not Jewish but my husband is in his heritage. We are not practicing Jews but have family that does.

I love this holiday for its symbolic meaning: G-d's light in the Darkness.

I know many are angry at the politics that surround Israel but please realize many Jews are for peace. They are not bad people. My husband has dealt with so much Antisemitism even in America it is sad it still exists. Something we found we had in common as A first Nations Native Woman and man with Jewish descent, was the clear discrimination for both our heritages. Blame for this countries ills and problems in history as well as in the present. Fighting for our rights to exist often are often looked at as a feeble attempt to promote ones self above all others. It is not.

The darkness of the whole world cannot swallow the glowing of a candle.  ~Robert Altinger

As I light the candles tonight with our family, I am praying for enlightenment for all souls this year to see that only G-d's Love, Joy, and Peace is the answer. a prayer for acceptance of our religious and philosophical differences because that is what makes our country great. To show that we all can live together in peace in one place is a message for the whole world to see.

    Happy candles dance with light
As children watch them with delight.
Now they flicker, now they glow,
Until the flames burn down too low.
    Kindness is a candle bright
    Kindled by an inner light,
A flame that brings an inner glow --
    Happiness, as well you know!

    By Johann Gottfried Walther.

May the light of G-d shine in your heart tonight and Happy Hanukkah to my Xanga family.

  • Celebrating early

Next week is my son Aaron's birthday. He will be 12 on 12-12-12. Pretty amazing stuff.  I got a call this week from the news journal here in Delaware about having an interview with Aaron about his birthday and photo session after for the paper. Since FMM worked there and knew the editor, she let them know all about his special numbers birthday. The repetitive numbers date will be the last of our lifetime.

So they came today.  (I cleaned house like a maniac.) The professional photographer had a photo shoot with my son. He had to pose for almost a half hour. He will be ready to do modeling after today LOL.

They bought him a cake for the pictures with 12/12/12 candles. How sweet.

Aaron will be the lead article on their life section of this Sunday's paper. (HA You know I am going to buy a stack of copies!) How exciting for him and Me! I am so proud of him. Aaron has such a struggle with everyday life with his Type one Diabetes but then he gets this extra special event which makes his life so fun.

I am happy he is happy and gets attention for being a first class kid.

  • Indian Food.

Well we are taking my Father-in-law out for Asian Indian food for his birthday. He has never been and I can imagine this is going to be interesting. :)
