  • the flu

    I had a flu soon after Christmas. I was hoping I wouldn't get this stomach virus going around but I think I caught that too. I am going on day three with achy muscles, stomachache, and severe headaches. So far those were the only symptoms but I got tight in  my chest this morning. :( I am really worried, not for myself but my oldest son who has Asthma. This flu had some deaths related to it with children who had Asthma. He has been coughing and getting tight but so far not sick.

    Asking for prayer about that.

    I wonder too, what good is a flu shot when I still get flu every year?  I read in this article that they said it is only 65% effective. What great odds.whatevah HA! Not really. sad

    I know some are saying its good to try and get them just in case but if I am still getting sick with flu, I wonder if it is a waste of time and money.

     What do you think?

  • Husband and I got our flu shot.  Hoping it does the job of keeping the flu away!

  • total wast of money is my personal opinion.....and i've heard some people get the flu even worse after having the shot

  • Actually, I heard the opposite of @fredsyankeegal.  I heard that even if you get the flu, it wouldn't be as bad if you've gotten your shot.  But, what do I know?  Hope you get better soon and your son doesn't get the flu.

  • Getting flu shots actually don't help, they can make you get the flu. I've never had one because my mom researched them years ago and what is actually put in the shots isn't good.

    I'll be praying for your son not to get sick.

  • Sending prayers and am hoping you get well right away.  TD and I have not had the flu in years and we get our flu shot every year.

  • I didn't get the flu shot this year. Now I don't remember if I got it last year either. I know the flu has been going around here as well. But they don't talk so much, as it is always expected around this time of year. 

    Have you heard about the Idle No More? It is going on here and protesting like mad. This is what the media here talks about. 

  • they say just to keep a cut onion around the house to absorb all the bacteria and virus's and you won't get sick....I'm not sure about that but I'm even less sure about the flu shots  and onions are cheep.

  • @angys_coco - Yes I totally know about Idle No More. I posted about it before Christmas. :) My family up there is all involved. I don't agree with the blocking traffic though. Makes enemies more than friends.

  • @mlbncsga - I would be weeping for days, I can hardly cut onions because go blind with tears. :)
