Happiness, working on it…
Trying to work on my negative attitudes here lately. I have some mental exercises to release some of them.
Happiness is not a place but a way of thinking I have learned and I am working on that concept.
Things I am working on are…

….listening to more uplifting music and enjoying natures beauty…

….not letting social media upset me and put my mind in a negative train of thought….

…seeing myself as an inspiration not a mistake to the world, that I have something valuable to contribute even if it’s just a smile…

…seeing in my minds eye that I have a bright future not a doomed one. That sometimes things just happen. I can work my future but not the past. I need to let some of it go and heal…

and not holding myself up to impossible perfections and learning acceptance of who I am. Learning to like myself.
BElieving in Yourself is BE YOU!
Realizing, I am who I am and that is going to be good enough. Not saying I cannot work on being better but seeing myself in a new light in stead of my old negative one.

Happiness is not the impossible dream it is within my power to obtain.
“Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being characterized by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy” ~Wiki

I hope you can find some happiness today.

Well my friend, the Declaration of Independence outlines three “rights” that belong to all men according to its own philosophy: Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. But think about what that implies! To pursue something is to chase after it as it flees away from you, isn’t it? To pursue something, that something must be localized outside of you, because you don’t have to pursue something that you have already attained, especially if it emanates from within you, right?
I heard a saying once that I thought was so profound in its simplicity that I incorporated it into my own personal philosophy: “No matter where ya go, there ya are.” Basically, what that means is that no matter how we change our circumstances, we will still be the same person we were before those circumstances changed.
That being true, the person who pursues happiness from without will always be a pursuer, because they don’t know where to look for it in the first place. It’s been said that happiness is a choice to be made rather than a commodity to be acquired. That speaks of contentment with our lot, a decision to accept and flourish in current reality rather than condemn reality as it is in favor of a pursuit of something that exists in some ethereal state in the world at large.
Christ promised us joy, but certainly not happiness in this world. The bible says that all who would live godly in Christ will suffer persecution, not that they’ll experience happiness. “Happiness” is an emotional state, but contentment is a choice, and that choice liberates us to thrive, to serve, and to be blessed (and to see our blessings).
Good luck to you my friend. Seek contentment. Choose contentment. The American Dream is for American sleepers. Walk in the light, sister. Peace to you and yours
I go out with my camera looking for beauty and I find it and this has changed my attitude from less negative to more positive.
Not an easy accomplishment but doable. You are a good person and so am I , and sometimes we react to life screwing with us. I am constantly working on negativity not taking over too.((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I agree with Ruth above. You have to work at being happy, and it comes to you. All the best to you in your search for it.
Uplifting (and very helpful) post! Thank you for sharing.
Sometimes it can be hard to find happiness in a world that seems to be full of negativity. But it definitely is possible to find happiness. I think you’re a great person and I know you will find happiness.
@AOK4WAY - Well i never looked to the American dream but I have some of it. You are right it did not bring me happiness. I agree contentment in what God has given me with a thankful heart has given me more joy.
@Grannys_Place - Thanks for the Hug!
@ZSA_MD - Thank you so much
@reginasikora - you are welcome. Glad you enjoyed it
@Shining_Garnet - Thanks
@Grannys_Place - A camera and an open eye can do wonders for one’s outlook, can’t they? Photography has done the same for me! I’ve found such beauty everywhere, in the sky, on the ground, plants, animals, insects, all so beautiful! When I first started I was astonished, and I couldn’t believe I’d lived all these years and never really noticed it all before. And the kicker is that I haven’t left my own modest, tiny little property to do it once! It’s all right here, all around me, all the time! How could I have been so blind?
@Ikwa - Amen, my friend. Beautiful
Have you read Ann Voskamp’s book,
1,000 Gifts
? If you haven’t and you are interested in it, I would love to send you a copy as a gift. If it impacts you the way it did me, or even a fraction thereof, it will be worth your time to read it.
And Judi, half the thing of being happy is looking for things to be happy about and concentrating on what is right with our world instead of what is wrong. There is always something wrong. But then, bu the flip of the same coin, there is always something right and worthy of praise. This post is an inspiration to me.
