  • Castle Black Bread

Hope this post doesn’t go wonky on me. Xanga has had some issues with pictures loading for me. Probably doesn’t like my firewalls. :OP

I made Black bread from my new favorite cook book, A Feast of Ice and Fire.

You can see their website for the book here and get some free recipes from the site. :) LINK>>>>The Official Game of Thrones companion cook book A feast of Ice and Fire.

Here is what I made. It is so dense and think but soft and chewy with a crisp crust. Tastes like a strong beer but nonalcoholic since you cook the alcohol out of it when you bake the bread.

My husband and my boys loved it.

I want to try some honeyeyed chicken too.

Anyway I love G.O.T. too much I think it boarders obsession. LOL I want to make a dress now for renaissance fair that is how crazy I ma getting :)

Oh But I must make my powwow regalia first, so many irons on the fire right now in my mind.

  • Wow! Nice! What kinda costume are you gonna make for the Renaissance Faire? I get to every one I can (Bristol is the best, just north of Chicago in Gurnee IL), but I’ve never dressed in costume.

  • now all I can think of are huge turkey drum sticks

  • A lot of folks if not invited to a Pow wow would never attend one.

I once was going to go to a Renaisance fair as part of a singing group. I don’t remember why but I never did go.

However the tune of the song remains:

“Now is the month of Maying when merry lads are singing…..” Fa la la la la la.

  • @PPhilip - I looked up Powwows.com and they have Powwows in CA open to the public. I am sure some have fees but I know you are always welcome to attend one. I am sure the tribes out there are friendly. :) I know mine is and always welcomed visitors.

  • @AOK4WAY -  More than likely more a peasant style top and skirt. Nothing too crazy. :)

  • @mlbncsga - My youngest loves those.

  • @Ikwa - Shucks. I was imagining you running around in leather brandishing a sword at all the drunken lords lol.

  • @AOK4WAY - ok too much beer? Lol never!! The thing is i like to be a respectful old fashioned lady. Like Catharine in the book.

  • @Ikwa - No way! Some of those lords could even get Catherine brandishing a sword, especially after their third or fourth visit to Ye Olde Drunkery. I wish I knew where to find some old pics I got at the festival here in GA a few years back. I fell in with a band of robbers at the watering hole and fell in love with a beer wench

  • The bread looks awesome
