  • Gen BS

I call BS on all the people who think their generation is better that the one before or the one after. Just saying that because I heard this as a kid how my generation was inferior and currently mine is saying this to kids now. It is Bull Sh..!  Each generation deals with things that are unique to their growing environment. To hear GenXers talk you would have thought the 70s and 80′s were the golden age in American history. What a pack of self inflated made up crap. I hated those years and love this newer one. I guess I want see my kids as a hope for the future not doomed for failure because of the age they are growing up in is different than mine.

So before you start thinking you’re superior because you had it harder, each previous generation has said that to the one before to make themselves feel superior. Not on merit but timing? Yes that is purely junk science.  Each has their own struggles and we all have the same brain and feelings to deal with these obstacles.
Makes me wonder how any previous generation is better when you read about their problems that were unique to that time. History teaches us that even ancient civilizations had real health problems and changing social norms. Why does one think it is superior to the next is beyond me.

  • I guess it’s all in your perspective.  I think the latest generation, the Millenials, are basically being raised by parents (our generation!) who spoil them and don’t let them fail.  I know that we, being the great parents that we are, have not done that, but many of our peers have.  Our kids’ generation just seem to have a lot of problems that stem from their upbringing.  Of course, everyone is different and each person’s experience shaped them to be the people they are now.  My parents, who are Baby Boomers, were the hippie generation, but my parents weren’t hippies.  You just can’t lump everyone together.

  • @gottobereal64 - See but that is exactly what I was told. That we were spoiled and doomed for failure. Well maybe we are, LOL Looking at our gen financial market, but I am hardly handing everything freely to my kids, so it is perspective. Mine were not hippies either and made us work hard. I am making my kids work for what they get too so I guess that is why I feel defensive of them not to be lumped in with a thought failing generation. :)

  • I hear people saying that too and that this generation is spoiled and has everything too easy. But I think every generation of kids hear that. However, I don’t think it is right to say that. Are there kids that are actually spoiled? Yes, but not every kid is spoiled. There are adults that are spoiled too.
