  • one more day

I had a very busy week and it has taken a toll on me. I have a sore throat and feel fatigue from sleeping in the living room on an air mattress with a preschooler, a third grader while getting kicked in the head by an overly large first grade student on the couch. yeah i moved us around every night to find a good spot after trying several positions. Nate the 4 year old is small but wanted to sleep with me and not his brothers so I had to sleep next to him. I also found out that Ike is a very restless sleeper. He woke up running and scream the first night dreaming his cousin Leif is after him. LOL (Just a note, he has Aspergers for those who do not know.) My sister needed a break so I took them for their spring break so she could catch up on house work and her studies as well as some time with her husband. My nephews just cannot have a regular babysitter. Christian is not  a problem but Nate has allergies to foods like crazy still and Isaac is... well very different. I wouldn't take him any other way. :)

So today is the last day. I am just letting them play their hearts out. We are meeting halfway to do the drop off so it isn't too bad. They drive down from Ontario and we from Delaware makes it a nice even thing. We cannot afford to go up for a visit so this is my option to see my Nephews. I love it.

Their Grandmother on their fathers side came to visit yesterday. here is a picture of that.

I couldn't get a straight face out of any of them kids LOL.

My kitty has been angry all week too.

Memow is very jealous of Nate. He glared at me every evening laying on the couch or air mattress. Kitty just couldn't understand why I was not going to my own bed. HA! He is use to sleeping at my feet on the bed. He stared at me every time I held Nate in my lap or hugged him. LOL Then took swipes at Nate when he walked by. It was he was saying like "THAT'S MY MOMMY!" HAHA! Other wise he liked the three little boys who started to call hi cousin after I said Memow was like my baby. I was trying to get them to be kind to him. Aaron joined in with Yep That's my younger brother. OH BOY! I see "cat lady" in my future. HA! Otherwise Memow could care less what they say. He just is so avoiding me right now, That Moody Cat.

I plan to give the boys all a bath tonight, get lots of sleep, and have them ready by morning to hand over tomorrow.

It will be nice to get a good nights sleep back, a clean house, and my cat.

  • Ribbon shirt

So as promised I am posting the shirt.

    .

I must admit it isn't a super traditional ribbon shirt but then again my husband isn't a Native. I just picked colors that would looks good on him The print is small swirls of black on dark green.

I know the tradition to making a ribbon shirt is to pray and fast a day for the person you are making it for, and then the next morning when you wake up the colors you see of the sun rising are the colors you use for a man's regalia.

My dad never owned one most all of his life even though he was full blooded. Dad wasn't a dancer so he had no need for one he said. I made him one when he is living with us. :) He liked it very much. I was glad to do that for him.

I want to make one for each of my sons the traditional way. :)

I am posting this because I really liked the picture.

Have a colorful rest of the weekend. I know I am going to because my nephews are coming here tomorrow for a week stay over spring break.

    I am so excited.

  • little more upbeat today

I am sad we didn't get snow but wow is it nice out. I plan to walk some more today.

I walked yesterday in the rain to prove to myself it wasn't so bad. :) HA I saw some interesting things that made me speculate a scenario of other peoples lives.

First I saw a lamp post beside the road was down and a bunch of plastic headlights pieces all over the area. Definitely hit by a car, I don't know when but then a utility truck pulled up to secure the electric wires. I was wondering when that happened and then how it hap pend. Then when up the road I saw a bunch of red roses with their baby's breath tossed in the bushes. Hmmm then the wrapper for the flowers further down along with a few beer cans. AH a jilted lover driving dangerously with a broken heart?? I know I was making all kinds of scenarios in my head. :) I automatically think it was man. What do you think?

I got my husbands ribbon shirt almost finished. I have promised him once since we were first married. Once I am finished I will take a picture. If you do not know what a ribbon shirt is it is a traditional shirt worn by native men during pow wows or whenever. He has been going to class evenings so I haven't been able to measure the hem on him. I hope to catch him tonight because my next project will be the moccasins to go with them.

I started the bead work for the mocs but lost it. I am sick just looking for it since it was a month of embroidery bead work. I had laid it aside in a plastic bag to hide it form my husband. I think it got tossed out. WAH! It is back to square one. I told my husband I am no longer going to make it a surprise. I am going to work on it in front of him. LOL That way I don't need to hide it!

ACK!!! just got a call form the school. Aaron's pump site feel off. :( He is making me gray hairs. Well I got to go look for a ride. SIGH* and I was so upbeat!

  • not the same

I have been feeling depressed about my no drivers license situation and so I decided to do more walking in the neighborhood to feel less home bound.

I want my license back so bad though. We mailed off the paperwork finally to immigration so hopefully they will accept it. And hopefully they will send me my certificate of citizenship. (A Long Story if you didn't know about my situation already. I was denied a drivers license due to insufficant paperwork because I was born in Canada.) The next step would be to renew my license. Once I have my certificate I won't have anymore trouble. I most likely will have to take the course all over again.  HA!

But walking everywhere is just not driving. I so miss driving and having that freedom.

I get called by the school for my son at least 2x's a month to pick him up for medical reasons. It is exhausting trying to arrange a ride for him. I have my teeth set on edge when the phone rings from his school. I never know what is going down. It will be so nice once I get my license and can drive over to pick him up.

No bus goes straight in that direction so it isn't easy to just hop a bus-line to that area. I would have to travel into the city and then switch to get a bus that goes by the schools area then walk another 1 mile to pick him up. With a child who is sick it's nearly an impossible situation.

Hubby works 45 minutes away and really cannot drop everything to come get him. He will if he has to but I call neighbors, his grandpa, or my sister hoping someone can do my job. :( Once I have my freedom back I can be less stressed. Also making Doctor appointments around my husbands busy schedule will be a snap if I could drive them or me plus picking up groceries, going to school for myself, Oh! the list is limitless!

SO even though walking is nice it is not the same as having your own vehicle with license to get around in. *Sigh... Some day soon I hope.

  • Pictures of my weekend

We went for walks for two days in a row. We are going to have to get creative about doing fun things to not involve money. :) Hubby is going to get cut 25% of his income for the next 9 months so it's going to be tight. We had to drop our cable and home phone lines to save money. We still have cell phones though. The cable is the hardest thing but we kept Internet. Cannot have hubby go to school online without Internet. He is starting online classes this week. I am glad for that since I love my high speed internet and would be really sad if I couldn't visit with my online friends.

If you have any other cost saving ideas you can give them to me. I already stopped us eating out and I cook all our stuff from scratch anyway. I don't go to the salon and I cut my kids hair or in Leif's case NO cut! LOL

We walked on Saturday just hubby and I to get some groceries. It was a nice date. :)  I took this picture when we came home because I didn't know my flowers were popping up already. SO pretty when everything looks dead and you see these pretty little yellow flowers. So I had a date with flowers all free!

Sunday we dragged out the plugged in kids by making them unhinge themselves from their devices and go for a walk in the park. OH the Humanity! They were mad at us at first but it was really nice to get them out for a little family time. After the walk they both were in good moods. Walking is so very therapeutic.

While walking in the woods we saw a little church set up with benches and a podium. I thought it looked precious. What was cute because was I just finishing telling my son I love to walk in the woods because I feel closer to God that way more than I do at a church. I think I might have to see if this set up actually has services and go once. I didn't see any postings. So Quaint don't you think?

I love the trees. I was married under the trees. I wish I could live under them too.

I really needed that walk even if it was really cold. We plan to go again.

    How was your weekend?

  • UPSET & ranting about politics

Ok I don't often get upset about politics... that much. But when it threatens our livelihood then I am sunk in anger that burns so red hot  that people need to just back off. We are going to get cut 1000 dollars out of our monthly salary starting tomorrow if a deal is not made. We live pay check to pay check so you can imagine how it is going to hurt us bad. I will not be going to my family reunion and we we will have to live off a food bank I believe. Thanks to my immigration troubles and a child with serious medical problems, this is going to hurt us badly.

This WHOLE budget cuts thing is gong to be a disaster! Across the board 20% cuts to all the D.O.D plus others but today I learned then they are sending 60 million dollars off to Syria? I guess Americans do not know who is protecting things.  Yeah Big surprise there. Lets FUND other countries in rebuilding but not our own? Shooting ourselves in the foot is Not helping our economy!

They are forcing people to take furlough at one day at a time per week increments so they can't receive unemployment too. They plan to cut jobs and de-fund contractors who are honestly helping our military. It's like they think, "No we can't cut out the unimportant stuff, so lets cut everyone's pay." It really shows a lack of leadership on the Republican side. They do not know who is keeping our nation safe.

Example: Cyber war is handled by the civilian hired DOD so we do not get attacked. What does that mean? These people are going to be cut in help and money. REALLY???? When we are getting attacked EVERY SINGLE DAY by North Korea, Russia and China. (FYI this is real!) No the enemies don't seem real to most people but the warnings have come that we need a better cyber system.I wish I could explain more and if I only could tell you the rest you would be APPALLLED. But they decided to cut that program down to 20%! No thought to Americans and soldiers safety.

Sorry but most Republican and tea party politicians have NO F***ing CLUE!

There is going to be lay offs by the thousands if not more and that is going to flood the system with unemployment. The thing is, these programs actually save the tax payer money. Now we don't want to use some of these services?  It seems to me  like a back room deal by republican leaders to export more jobs! Yes I said it! This is how they operate. WAKE UP AMERICA! You have listened to lies too long.

Remember back in 2006? They were telling Republicans the economy is in trouble? No one wanted to hear that on the Republican side back then. Well if you keep closing your ears to truth you 're going to get hurt.

YES this cut is going to effect every citizen and soldier. De-funding our own people to save a fiscal buck? Does that sound like a winner? NOT at all!

In the end we will be paying more to pay a corporation to come in a run our own government. Yep it already is a problem. And who is running these deals? You tell me.

  • Sharing my cat for no reason

I don't know what to blog about so I will share my cat who is my constant companion.

Memow has brought so much happiness to all our lives.

Look how little he is, aw.

    .

We got him a pack of play mice at Christmas that all have since disappeared somewhere in the house, I believe.  I have looked and looked for them because I like to throw them to play fetch with him but I think hid them somewhere deep into our storage corner. I hope he didn't eat them~!

Here is when I would try and video record Memow playing fetch instead he would try and attack my camera cord. LOL

I need a new batch of pictures he is so much bigger now.

Anyway that is all I got for today.

I am excited for spring but not the allergies so we shall see how it all goes since we have the first of the daffodils pushing their way up in my flower bed out front.

    Have a good day!

  • Gotye-Bronte

I totally love this video. I cried when i watched it. Something about growing up that was so painful to me. I suffer from Peter Pan syndrome.

The Song and the video are amazing.

    Do you like?

  • Week of cold

My Aaron has been home all week from school with a cold. Just sending him to school today. I have been so lazy with him and got almost nothing extra done in the house. He then so very unwillingly gave me his cold back to me. I say back because I just got over it the following week. Poop! at this rate the dust bunnies are going to take over.

  • not much but quite a lot

Been busy doing a whole lot of nothing important but I guess getting over a week of a bad cold is work.

I feel really lazy but I have been back on track to the whole diet and exercise routine again. I like my results. I am gaining more energy.

I made a big pot of vegetable beef soup last night to eat all week for lunch. It really warmed my soul to eat it since it reminded me of my parents. They always made huge pots of soup to eat all week. I think it is a really smart thing to do and want to see if I can make it a routine for Sunday nights. Eating soup is so healthy.

Saturday my husband took me out to celebrate Valentines day. We drove into Philadelphia to go to the Reading terminal market. They have a special honey I can only get there that I like. It is called Butter bean. It is from a local source which is good for allergies and I love the flavor too. The market was jam packed so we decided to eat elsewhere. Oh that is before we trekked into Chinatown to get some Asian candy for our boys. Leif loves all things Asian. :) We went into a small side street Chinese run grocery store and I was impressed I have never seen many of the products they had in store before and we have gone to Chinatown NYC markets before so it was amazing to see. I like to see new things and we got a few candies. But also I got a big bag of brown rice at a good price. My husband thinks its funny in those kind of places I don't get stared at but he does. What can I say? I am a brown lady so I blend.

We went to South street to see if there was anything to tempt our appetites. We settled on a fancy BBQ place to eat but I was really unimpressed. I hate when they try and change the formula for a dish to make it uniquely their own but market it as a regular BBQ place. YUCKY clovey tasting sauce and expensive prices I knew I should just stick to a simpler place to eat. Even Hubby was disappointed. We had better BBQ at famous Daves. LOL

We then decided to do redbox movies with tour boys and take home some supper. HA! It was a quiet evening compared to our day but I like that unwinding at home in the evening plus it's cost efficient. HA! Oh Before all that we picked up some groceries and I got my half priced valentines candy. Oh yes, a whole box of assorted chocolates. Cannot beat those prices! I shared of course and we all ate chocolates and Chinese candy while watching a movie.

Today I am just realizing my limits on sweets. YIKES. Back to the diet routine.

    Have a good week!
